Proporta announces the Quillit Stylus Pen for all Touch Screen Devices…

Thursday 17th March 2011, Brighton, England:

Today, gadget and mobile accessory manufacturer, Proporta, has launched the Quillit Stylus Pen. Unique to Proporta, the Quillit is a multi-function stylus for all touch screen devices as it incorporates a retractable brush stylus (for capacitive screens), a nib stylus (for resistive screens) and a high quality pen.

Quillit Stylus Pen £24.95
Lynnette Prigmore, Head of Product at Proporta said: “The retractable design means that not only do you get three functions in one compact setting, but also the brush stylus in the Quillit will last longer than other types we’ve seen, which can fray and become ineffective over time.” The Quillit is incredibly practical, as it works with both resistive and capacitive touch screens by switching between brush and nib stylus heads. This makes it ideal for operating tablet PCs and Smartphones, and in addition it is also a beautifully styled writing instrument with a nice heavy-weight feel and deluxe finish.

The first iPhone band

It had to happen didn’t it really? With all the music apps for the iPhone, as well as its ever growing popularity, it was only a matter of time before the first iPhone band came into being, and here they are.

Not that inspiring so far, it has to be said – but from little acorns mighty oaks doth grow, and we think you’ll be seeing many more where this has come from. All joking aside, it’s an intriguing idea, and has the potential to create some really interesting possibilities for portable electronic music. Because someone will get beyond vaguely retro piano noodlings some time soon, and then, who knows where this new idea will take us? They laughed at the Moog when it first came out, but no one’s laughing now…

iPhone Voted the Coolest Brand in Britain

It might not surprise you to learn that the Apple iPhone has been voted the coolest, and most desirable brand in Britain. After all, it seems that you can’t move without seeing one, hearing about the latest app, or having to listen to someone wax lyrical about how beautiful they are. And with Orange breaking the O2 stranglehold and announcing that they will be selling the iPhone from later on this year, they’re only going to get more popular.

Slightly more surprising, to Proporta at least, is the fact that Aston Martin has topped the list for the last 4 years, and still remains in second place. James Bond (or maybe just Daniel Craig) clearly has a lot to answer for…

The rest of the top 10 is dominated by technology, with Apple, the iPod, Nintendo, YouTube, Blackberry, Google and Bang & Olufsen taking up the remaining spots, with the Playstation 3 and the Xbox at 11 & 12. Clearly the recession isn’t stopping anyone wanting the latest and best in gizmos and gadgets, or maybe we’re all just battening down the hatches and staying indoors until things look brighter…

Musings on the latest iPhone rumours…

We always keep ours ears firmly to the ground when it comes to the rumours circulating about the latest iPhone offerings from Apple, and we imagine you’ll be as interested to read about the possibility of a new member to the Apple family as we are.

Reports suggest that Apple is thinking of releasing one, two or three variants of the iPhone 3G. The first of which (closest to the current model) is an iPhone with an impressive 32GB capacity, which will be available in more colours than the standard white or black. Our thoughts are that we can expect to see red, blue, green, yellow, orange and purple join the current monochromatic range.

Some images have been leaked (as usual these are yet to be verified as official), which depict an iPhone with a different serial number to what is currently available. These pictures also suggest that Apple have opted for a matt finish to the back of the ‘new’ iPhone (rather than the traditional gloss finish we’re used to), which may be a smart move as we’re all quite aware of how easily the current iPhone can slip out of the hand and is easily marked by finger prints.

The second ‘new iPhone’ is an iPhone with 2G (rather than 3G) technologies, which offers a cheaper model of the popular device for the Chinese and Indian markets. Many have criticised the downgrade to 2G, and early reports also suggest that the 2G iPhone will lose GPS and have a camera with a lower resolution. It’s safe to say the Jury’s still out on this one…

The final rumoured model, which is subject to much speculation and has been popping on and off blogs quicker than you can say “give me back my click wheel”, is the iPhone nano. Rumoured to be a third smaller in size and 40% cheaper than the current iPhone, some a little more confident than those in the know predict that this’ll hit shops by the summer and be a snip at $99.

Well I guess we’ll just have to wait and see won’t we?

Proporta now protect you against cyclones and run-ins with trams*

Recently two customers contacted Proporta with amazing tales of how their cases withstood some rather out of the ordinary events. You can probably tell why Proporta lines its leather cases with aircraft grade aluminum.

Vicki recalls, “I bought two cases for the iPhone 3G. I kept the red one for myself and gave my daughter the pink one. Yesterday my daughter called me from San Francisco to tell me her phone had fallen out of her bag as she was walking up one of the steep hills to get to her friend’s apartment. When they realised the phone was missing, they went back out to look for it. My daughter spotted the pink case in the middle of the street, but before she could get to it, a cable car ran over it. In horror, she ran into the street to pick up the mangled case. My point is that after all that, the phone is fine. Not one scratch. Thank you!” Vicki, San Francisco.

David also notes, “Another excellent product came in the form of an iPod leather flip case – it met it’s demise only when my car was washed away in the midst of a cyclone which struck my city last year. Even then, it only warped a little bit; such was the quality of it!” David, Edinburgh.

We’re not sure about advertising our cases as cyclone proof just quite yet, but it’s always good to know.

*Not necessarily.

Got a few million pounds spare?

Whilst trawling through The Sun on the bus into work one morning (she’s collecting the £9.50 holiday vouchers), Hannah came across a shocker of an iPhone. Some Austrian jeweller – Peter Aloisson to be precise – has designed the one-of-a kind Apple iPhone 3G ‘Kings Button’. It’s made with nothing less than solid 18 carat yellow gold, white gold and rose gold. It also features a rare 6.6 carat diamond as its home button. This questionably “stylish” beauty is worth a staggering £1.8m – now that’s the definition of BLING BLING.
