Nexus 7 2 vs Nexus 7: What’s the difference?

The 2nd generation Nexus 7 has now been announced, but what is the difference between the first and the second generation?

Here are the main differences which you need to know if you are interested in the new generation Google Nexus 7:

Display: The display is improved compared to before. Now it has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 compared to the original Nexus resolution of 1280 x 800.

Size, weight and design: The size of the new Nexus is the same but it changes the design slightly. Another innovation is that it is now 23g lighter than before, despite being bigger.

Specs: Faster, speedier and a return to Qualcomm processor. With the new processor the RAM has been doubled, so it loads much faster than before.

Android: A new device means a new version of Android. The Nexus 7 2 gets Android 4.3 instead of 4.3. This means you have a lot of new features and tricks on your Nexus.

Conclusion for you:

The new Nexus 7 2 is quicker, faster, slimmer and all round a better tablet. So, if you are a fan of good quality, the new Google Nexus 7 will be the best decision for you.

New HTC One announced in New York

A brand new flagship HTC smartphone has been unveiled at a launch event held in New York yesterday (19th Feb 2013).

The HTC One is a change in direction for the phone manufacturer, mainly due to its brand new interface which is not dissimilar to the Windows Phone format.

Aside from this selling point, the HTC One also boasts speakers on the top and bottom of the handset which provide stereo effect sound for audio and video playback.

Facebook announcement rumours – what could it be?

Today’s Facebook announcement (due at 6pm UK time) has sent the rumour mill into overdrive for the last few days with speculation as to what the social network will be launching at their press event on 15th January 2013.

Facebook announcement

There has been talk since last year about the possibility of a Facebook smartphone coming out to join the already crowded race in mobile phone land. But what else could it be? Journalists were asked to “come and see what we’re building”.

We run down the Facebook announcement rumours pre-launch to help you get in the mood for the big reveal later on.

Facebook Smartphone
Although Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, has hinted that a Facebook smartphone was not on the cards last year, a lot can change in just a few months in the Internet world. One thing’s for sure, Proporta will certainly be eager to provide you with a Facebook phone case if this is in fact what they’re launching.

New News Feed
Speculators think that Facebook could well want to expand the news feed into a hub for worldwide information, rather than just being about the people you’re friends with.

Charged Messages
Facebook told the world last year that they were thinking about implementing a $1 charge for every private message sent to non-friends, so could this be the announcement?

Facebook as the New Search Engine
Could the world’s biggest social network also become a search engine?

What do you think the Facebook announcement will be? Let us know in the comments section below.

New Kindle Fire to launch 6th September?

Rumours seemed to have reached fever pitch this week for the highly anticipated Kindle Fire 2 with many tech sites reporting it could be launched Thursday 6th September.

Amazon have announced they will be holding a press event in Los Angeles on the 6th with many believing the time has finally come for them to bring the Kindle Fire 2 to the world, and hopefully Europe.

Kindle Fire

The UK and other European countries have been waiting for the Kindle Fire to arrive for around a year now, since the original was released in the US in 2011.

With the Google Nexus 7 performing nicely in the Android market since its launch several weeks ago, as well as a new Samsung and Microsoft tablet to throw into the mix, Amazon are expected to compete in the tablet race on these shores sooner rather than later.

With (dare we say it) Christmas coming up soon, Proporta is keen to see what Amazon announces this week as we continue to provide cases and accessories to deal with the so-called “Year of the Tablet” that 2012 has definitely become.

In the meantime, you can find a range of Kindle covers for existing models, including Kindle Fire covers at Proporta.
